We are thrilled to announce that Dan Porter, CEO of Overtime, as of today joins the Tonsser United Advisory Board.

Within the last 15 years, Dan Porter has built three #1 apps, including Draw Something, one of the most downloaded games ever with over 250 million downloads. In 2016 he founded Overtime, a sports media company that aims to become the top brand for the next generation of sports fans. With 88% of their audience under 35, Overtime caters mostly to Gen Z,  producing original content across YouTube, Snapchat, Instagram and TikTok. Today the platform has more than 1.5 bn views per month and is backed by investors such as Amazon-founder Jeff Bezos and NBA-Stars Kevin Durant or Carmelo Anthony.

Besides being a successful entrepreneur and CEO,  the 54-year-old is also a visionary. Currently, he is creating a new youth basketball league, called Overtime Elite (OTE). The newly founded League is offering an alternative to playing at high school and collegiate levels and is set to launch in September 2021. The competition will initially consist of 30 players from across the world between the ages of 16 and 18, who will be paid a yearly salary from Overtime before having the chance to enter the NBA.

From today Dan Porter is joining the Tonsser United Advisory Board, bringing his experience from the sports industry and the tech scene, as well as a shared vision of what the future of professional sports could look like.

“I am interested in the way Tonsser is disrupting the idea of sports ownership and fan participation and believe that bottom-up fandom and engagement are the future of sports.”

- Dan Porter, CEO of Overtime

“I’m a big fan of Overtime and the community they have built for the next-gen athletes and fans. What Overtime is creating with OTE is similar to what we are creating with Tonsser United in football - both to empower, engage and liberate aspirational athletes and help them achieve their dreams. It’s an honour to have a rare sports visionary like Dan joining our team, and together we will listen to Gen Z and build sports engagement and opportunities they demand and enjoy.”

- Peter Holm, CEO of Tonsser

Tonsser United

Tonsser United fights to create a world where aspirational youth players are empowered to unlock their potential. No matter their background or where they are today. We do this by creating alternate paths for youth players who never had access to opportunities, been released at an academy, lost motivation or for some other reason got lost in the system.

We strive to secure more natural transparency, information and connection between clubs and players and decrease the dependency on intermediaries.
All of the above sits at the core of what Tonsser and Tonsser United are about, which you can read more about here.
